Plug-In Solar · take control of your electricity

Plug in. Point up. Power on.

Small solar panels you plug into the wall and own outright. Cheaper power, made on your own balcony. About the simplest way to take back a little control over your energy. Let's unlock it, right across Canada.

Hey PEI, make a little power that's actually from here.

The case, in four panels

Power keeps getting pricier.

Most of the power that lights up the Island doesn't actually come from the Island. A good chunk of it rides in on a cable under the Strait. Islanders already led the way on making their own clean power with wind, so a panel on your own deck is just that idea brought home, this time for renters and apartment-dwellers too.

Meet plug-in solar.

It's pretty much what it sounds like. Small solar panels you plug into a regular wall outlet, like an appliance. You hang them on a balcony, a wall, or a railing, plug them in, and that's about it. Usually no electrician, no roof work, no permits. They quietly make power and send it straight into your home. Germany has more than a million of them. It's safe, it's proven, and it works everywhere it's allowed.

So why can't you buy one here?

Islanders know how to make do with what's here, the wind, the sun, the salt air. The rules for hooking up your own solar were written for big rooftop projects, though, not for a panel you plug into the wall. After this year's cabinet shuffle, even figuring out who says yes takes a minute. We're asking the province to make the simple option actually simple.

Here's how we change it.

So we're asking the province to open a certified, plug-in path, one small way to bring a bit of the Island's power home. Add your name and we'll see it gets to the right desk.
