Make a little of your own power.
Alberta knows energy. Plug-in solar could let more households generate electricity right at home. Albertans already pick their own power company. Making some electricity on a sunny balcony seems a fair next step.
Plug-In Solar · take control of your electricity
Small solar panels can make electricity for your home through a regular wall outlet. We're working to make certified plug-in solar an option across Canada.

A little power of your own
Alberta knows energy. Plug-in solar could let more households generate electricity right at home. Albertans already pick their own power company. Making some electricity on a sunny balcony seems a fair next step.
A plug-in solar kit uses small panels to make electricity for your home. A device called a microinverter converts that power for use in your home's wiring. Kits can mount on a balcony, a wall or a railing and connect through a regular wall outlet. Germany has more than a million of them. We're working to make certified kits an option here.
The rules need a simpler route for a small kit that makes electricity for one home. Alberta sets its electrical rules through provincial regulation. We're asking the province to make room for certified plug-in solar, with requirements suited to its size and use.
We're asking Alberta to make certified plug-in solar a practical option for households. That means a clear route through the rules for people who want to make a little electricity at home. Add your name to the petition and help bring that request to the province.
