You can sign the petition for certified plug-in solar and write to your representative. This page explains how to take part and make the message your own.
Two ways to be heard
The petition brings supporters together around the campaign’s request. Confirm your name through the link in your email to complete your signature.
An email gives you room to explain why plug-in solar matters to you and where you live. You send it from your own email address.
You can do either or both. The site helps you find your representative and prepare a message.
Make the message your own
We provide a draft subject and message that describe the campaign request. Read them before you send.
Add a detail from your own experience. Keep what you agree with and change the rest.
You can edit the message in your email app before sending it.
What to include
Choose the details that matter to you.
- Why this matters to you personally. A line or two about your situation: you live in an apartment, you're a renter, you've been priced out of rooftop solar, you've watched your bill climb every winter, whatever's true.
- A story about energy prices. If your power bill has changed how you live, say so. If you've made hard tradeoffs because of energy costs, say what they were. Specifics land.
- Your connection to the riding. Say which community you live in and why this issue matters there.
- One thing you'd change with plug-in solar. If certified balcony systems were legal tomorrow, what would you do? Buy one for your west-facing balcony? Help your parents on a fixed income? Tell your friends?
- A clear ask. Keep the campaign request or explain it in your own words.
A short paragraph about your own situation is enough. Use words you would use when talking to a neighbour.
What we send, what we keep
You send the message from your own email app, such as Gmail or Outlook. The site prepares a draft for you to review and send.
We do record that you signed (your name, postal code, and consent choices) so we can show the running count of people who've taken action and follow up if you opted in to campaign updates. The full data handling is on the Privacy and Anti-Spam (CASL) pages.
What happens next
If you signed, check your email for the confirmation link. Your name is counted once you confirm. You can share the campaign with neighbours and choose whether to get more involved.
